Un ponte verso il futuro: la missione di New Life for Children in Brasile

Qualche mese fa sono partita per la mia prima missione in Brasile. A Rio de Janeiro mi aspettava Germana, la coordinatrice locale di New Life for Children. Da lì abbiamo guidato per quasi tre ore, attraversando paesaggi che cambiavano rapidamente, fino a raggiungere Macaé e, infine, il ponte che segna il confine con la favela di Malvinas.

In Brasile 11 milioni di persone abitano le favelas, distese di baracche e fogne a cielo aperto dove i tassi di mortalità, disoccupazione, abbandono scolastico, gravidanze precoci e violenza sono altissimi e le condizioni igienico-sanitarie sono tra le peggiori al mondo.
