our world

With a population of over 10.85 million inhabitants, Haiti is the poorest Country in the Americas. Following the earthquake in 2010, the population's life conditions have significantly worsened. Eight years after the seismic event, the situation is still in a precarious state.

Waf Jérémie, one of the poorest shantytowns of the capital, Port-au-Prince, mostly depends on humanitarian aids, and children with no family to count on live in squalor and fall victims to poverty and organized crime. Waf Jérémie needs important structural, healthcare and nutritional intervention: almost half of its inhabitants is less than 18 years old, and about 1/4 of children below 5 is malnourished.

New Life for Children operates here to guarantee the right to life, physical health and nutrition to girls, boys and teenagers abandoned by their parents or left orphaned.

Project history

New Life is present in Haiti since January 2010.
In the aftermath of the 2010 earthquake, we activated two field medical camps equipped to help 30,000 people at the Waf Jérémie and Fort Dimanche shantytowns.

Then, our intervention focused on basic nutritional support for malnourished and undernourished children, by offering a hot meal every day to over 500 children, and on building a common cafeteria in the Waf Jérémie shantytown.

In 2013, New Life for Children started the "Un pasto per Mikael" project, by offering 4 meals a day every day to the small guests of " KAY PE GIUSS " (children between 0-10 years of age).

Since 2017, we activated the training project for educators and educational instructors.
